Debra Ruh
Chair
Chief Marketing Officer
SSB BART Group
Debra’s daughter, Sara, was born with Down syndrome and inspired Debra to spend her life supporting people with disabilities. For Debra, a diverse workforce is critical to the success of an organization. Including people with disabilities allows a team to capitalize on its strengths and encourages innovation. In short, hiring people with disabilities is a strategic move that drives major value to a company’s bottom line.
Debra’s career experience includes hiring, retaining, and accommodating employees with disabilities. She has worked with multi-national corporations and government to ensure people with disabilities have full access to Internet, Communications and Technology (ICT).
Debra serves as an officer and member of the Board of Directors of USBLN. She is a member of the Board of Directors for G3ict, a UN-affiliated non-profit created to assure that people with disabilities world-wide have access to ICT. And, she is an officer and on the Board of Directors for Virginia PEATC.
Although she was born in Florida, Debra feels this was a cosmic mistake and she really should have been born in Virginia. She loves thunderstorms. And, after 29 years, she still adores her husband.
