Diner Offers Jobs to Disabled Citizens12/08/09 6:52 pm | reporter: Sarah Bloom producer: Amy Foster WSET TV-13, Lynchburg Danville, VA - If you´re craving a coke float or a classic Cheeseburger, a new Danville Diner may be just your flavor. The owner of the Fastlane Diner hopes you´ll stop by, but not just because it supports his business. The diner is owned by the same man who owns CarVaGa Industries, a recycling company committed to providing jobs for disabled citizens. The mission of Fastlane Diner is much the same. It´s an old-fashioned diner with a speedy twist: hot meals, out quick. "I call it Southern Style. We have plate lunches, and sandwiches of different types," owner of Fastlane Diner Ralph Bryson said. And Fastlane Diner, is getting popular fast. "About the first of the month we just exploded," Bryson said. The folks here think the meals impress customers, but they hope who´s making them, impresses them more: disabled citizens, very much in need of employment. "Danville has a need for people with disabilities to have jobs," Bryson said. "Disabled citizens really really care about their jobs. And they´re really really intensely focused on the quality." People like James Simpson. He´s been unemployed for a long time. "I have money to spend. I get a regular paycheck," Simpson said. And he says that´s made all the difference in his life. "I´m not trying to find work each week, asking to find a job. I´m finally have a place to work that I can be thankful to work," Simpson said. The Fastlane Diner is open Monday through Friday from 8:00-4:00. You can find it on Main Street, in the downtown area.
